What a mobile mechanic can do at your curb

More than most people expect. If a job truly needs a lift or a hoist, a good mobile operator will tell you on the phone — before they drive out, not after.

Brakes, batteries & no-starts

The bread and butter of mobile work: pads and rotors, battery testing and replacement, starters and alternators — usually finished in one visit, in your driveway.

Diagnostics & check-engine lights

Dealer-level scan tools travel in the van. A proper diagnosis first, a written quote second — then you decide whether the repair happens on the spot.

Maintenance, tires & inspections

Oil services, seasonal tire swaps, and pre-purchase inspections where the car sits — the easiest way to get a straight read on a used car before you buy it.

How it works

1

Find your operator

Filter by region and the job you need. Every listing shows the operator's real phone number — you deal with them directly. There's no middleman and no booking fee from this site.

2

Call and describe the car

Year, make, model, and what it's doing — or not doing. Ask two things up front: the call-out or diagnostic fee, and whether the job can be finished mobile.

3

Get it fixed where it sits

Home, work, or roadside. Get the quote in writing before work starts, and keep the invoice — it should show parts, labour, and any travel charges separately.

Real prices, published by the operators

No invented averages. These are figures the operators below publish on their own sites — use them as a yardstick when you get a quote, and confirm the price for your job before anyone turns a wrench.

Prices shown as published on each operator's website when this directory was compiled on November 8, 2026. Prices change — the operator's current quote is the one that counts.

Check the licence before you book

In Ontario, the licence that matters is on the technician, not the van. Look for:

  • 310S — Automotive Service Technician. The licence for car and light-truck repair.
  • 310T — Truck and Coach Technician. The licence for heavy trucks and commercial work.
  • Red Seal — the interprovincial endorsement on top of the Ontario licence.

Listings here show licence claims exactly as the operator states them. If a listing doesn't mention a licence, ask on the call — a licensed tech will never mind the question.

Fleets & heavy-duty

Running trucks or equipment? Several operators here do the work in your yard, on your schedule — scheduled preventive maintenance, 24/7 breakdown dispatch along the 401 and 400 corridors, and consolidated fleet billing.

  • GoWrench — fleet programs from 5 to 500+ vehicles
  • On The Go — 310S fleet service in Ottawa & the GTA, vehicles serviced while parked
  • Turbo Truck & Auto — 24/7 heavy-duty dispatch, GTA & 401 corridor
  • RX On-The-Go — diesel, heavy equipment and trailers at jobsites and farms

Use the Heavy-duty & fleet filter in the directory to see them all.

For mobile mechanics

Basic listings are free — name, region, services, phone, website. If you're already listed, claim your profile to correct details and add your licence and hours. If you're not listed yet, this is how you get on.

Straight answers

Is a mobile mechanic cheaper than a shop?

Sometimes — there's no tow bill and no shop overhead, but there's usually a call-out or travel charge instead. The honest comparison is the total written quote for the same job. Three operators on this page publish theirs openly: a $75 flat diagnostic fee and $45/hr labour from Mobile Mechanic Kelli in Sarnia–Lambton, a $100 call-out and diagnosis in Windsor–Essex, and $140/hr labour for heavy work out of Cambridge. Use those as reference points.

What can't be done in a driveway?

Jobs that need a hoist for hours, an alignment rack, or engine and transmission removal are shop jobs. Brakes, batteries, starters, alternators, diagnostics, oil services, tire swaps, suspension components and most inspections travel well. A good operator tells you on the phone if yours doesn't.

Does mobile work affect my car's warranty?

Maintenance done by a licensed technician with the right parts and fluids, documented with a proper invoice, is warranty-approved at the operators listed here who say so — GoWrench states it outright. Keep every invoice; the paperwork is what protects you.

Who serves Sarnia–Lambton?

Mobile Mechanic Kelli is the region's first listing — a licensed and insured technician based in Chatham-Kent who covers Sarnia, London, Windsor, Tecumseh and surrounding areas, 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with published pricing of a $75 flat diagnostic fee and $45/hr labour. Operators from London and Windsor–Essex also cover parts of Lambton County on some jobs — ask when you call. If you run a mobile service based in Lambton itself, your listing is free — claim your spot above.

How did these operators get listed?

They were compiled on November 8, 2026 from the operators' own websites and public business listings — names, phone numbers, service areas and licence claims are theirs, quoted as published. This site doesn't take a cut of any job and doesn't rank by payment. Paid featured placement doesn't exist yet — the highlighted cards are editor's picks, chosen for coverage and published information, and they're labelled as such.
